Bee Movie review
Posted : 4 months ago on 9 June 2008 04:09
(A review of Bee Movie)What the hell was this?! Seriously, isn't it about time they stopped making animated movies about insects that act like humans? Between that and the inter-species love, it's all just too creepy. If it were funny at all, may it would be forgivable, but unfortunately I found myself yawning far too many times.

Ballet Shoes review
Posted : 4 months ago on 9 June 2008 04:05
(A review of Ballet Shoes)Entertaining and decent, but not at all memorable. All the little girls are rather spoiled and selfish so it's really hard to like any of them. And of course it ends on a rather clichéd everybody lives happily ever after.

The Skulls review
Posted : 4 months ago on 9 June 2008 12:52
(A review of The Skulls)With the influx of teen movies that were out at this time, it's not particularly surprising that this one had a whole bunch of pretty people and a terribly cliché plot. Still, it's kinda fun to watch the ceremonies of the secret society and all the campiness surrounding the secrecy. All I was thankful for was that Walker was not overly irritating or aver-acting as he has made a habit of these days.

Strange Wilderness review
Posted : 4 months ago on 8 June 2008 08:22
(A review of Strange Wilderness)Maybe you'll get a couple of chuckles out of this... but if you do, it will probably be just because of the animal footage. Truth be told, if really shows on Animal Planet were like this, I might watch more often. Otherwise, the rest of the movie is filled with awkward gags that are only made semi-funny by Justin Long's reactions or dialogue.

Semi-Pro review
Posted : 4 months ago on 8 June 2008 08:18
(A review of Semi-Pro)Well, you know, it's a Will Ferrell movie. It just seems to me he's running out of good ideas and funny gags. This is one of those movies people will barely remember seeing and certainly won't be talking about. Pretty disappointing. I was left with a rather odd question, though, was the guy living with Tierney's character a boyfriend? brother? roommate? Either way... there's a scene that's incredibly uncomfortable without even being funny.

The Andromeda Strain review
Posted : 4 months ago on 8 June 2008 04:16
(A review of The Andromeda Strain)What a hot, yet entertaining, mess. Truly right in line with most TV movies in the complete lack of common sense. There are far too many scenes where you'll find yourself going WTF?! (An army vehicle rolling over tire spikes but experiencing no damage; someone on the telephone with no mask, while five feet away are people in full biohazard suits; a car that breaks down and then works just find a few seconds later.) Ignoring all that, the movie's actually kind of entertaining. You find yourself interested in this crazy bug, and trying to guess its origins or how they're going to kill it.

While You Were Sleeping review
Posted : 4 months ago on 8 June 2008 04:08
(A review of While You Were Sleeping)I love Sandra Bullock... but I believe I consider this the least favourite. I think it was mostly the convoluted story line as I would have put a stop to it immediately. Sandra played the typical character I like from her, but for whatever reason it was all just missing some punch or something to make it stand out.

Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey review

(A review of Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey)The thing about Palahniuk, is that no topic is sacred. He touches on absolutely everything in this novel, sometimes leaving you cringing, other times laughing... but always leaving you wanting more.

Fuck review
Posted : 4 months, 1 week ago on 3 June 2008 07:52
(A review of Fuck)If there's anything you'll pick up from this movie, it's "BOONE!" ... But seriously, the idea of "fuck" as a word and everything it stands for has been of interest for ages. I always wonder what it says about me that I wasn't in the least offended by any of the uses in this film and certainly abhor the idea that anyone could prevent me from using it. It's an interesting movie that looks at several viewpoints, the irony of some regulatory boards and the idea that North America may in fact be becoming far more prudish, rather than evolving and becoming more accepting.

Breach review
Posted : 4 months, 1 week ago on 1 June 2008 02:46
(A review of Breach)Though the film is decent to watch, and occasionally interesting... I sort of ended up feeling as if there was no purpose to it. Was the message just "America, defy not your government" or did I miss something? It was all certainly psychological without any great action or intensely suspenseful moments. What I fail to understand is how Cooper's character failed to see through Phillipe's hideous acting. That he suddenly became so religious (kneeling down in his office to pray?!), despite his background which he obviously seemed to have left behind, should have sent up red flags for him. Perhaps it was just a matter of ego? Either way, there have been far more interesting spy movies before this and I'm quite sure there will be more after.
