Michael Clayton review

Posted : 5 months ago on 11 May 2008 02:55 (A review of Michael Clayton)

This is really one of those movies that makes you go "What? What's all the fuss about?" It really is "just another lawyer movie" with a "go green!" conscience.

It might have a far more entertaining movie if it hadn't been for the execution. It's almost as if someone took the plot, chopped it up into tiny pieces and threw them up into the air. Wherever the scenes landed, that's the order they were sequenced. I don't mind a plot being revealed in layers but for the majority of this movie you spend your time wondering who the hell everyone is, what's their relation, and why the hell is this long and useless scene important? (Seriously? Clooney in an elevator for two minutes?)

The ending definitely brings it all together... but for the first two hours you're so confused that it's just irritating. That isn't entertainment, regardless of whatever message the movie is trying to put across.

CHO Revolution review

Not my favourite of her DVDs. For whatever reason, I find her rather manic and bitter in this video. Just too much of an agenda that overrode the comedic factor.

I'm the One That I Want review

If you've never watched Margaret Cho before, this is one of the better ones just because it has so many of her classic bits. I find it's also one where she's most at ease. She seems so relaxed and down to earth which I find only adds to the comedic affect of her words.

Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical review

Great spoof movie on the notion of people being ruled by fear. The over-exaggeration and silly songs are a riot, though you have to really love the cheesy musicals to enjoy it.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets review

I didn't particularly think the first movie was astounding, so the second was right in line with that. It's fun to watch the interpretation of the clues and the Indiana Jones-style of adventure and discovery. But, aside from that, it's all far too coincidental and the bad guy's motive were just a joke.

Sunset Strip review

A rather anti-climactic ending to a decent movie. Definitely not an award-winner, but you find yourself curiously interested in the characters and the mysterious guitar player.

Mona Lisa Smile review

Posted : 6 months ago on 11 April 2008 11:49 (A review of Mona Lisa Smile)

A pleasant movie and an interesting look at this particualr era. What I liked the most was that it wasn't all about Julia Roebrts' cahracter being right, about some sort of feminsit movement. I think Julia Stile's speech abuot just wanting to be happy and doing something you love regardless of how it appears to others summed it all nicely.

The Mighty Ducks review

Posted : 6 months, 1 week ago on 7 April 2008 12:21 (A review of The Mighty Ducks)

It's been ages since I watched this, but I used to love it as a kid. It was really the first time I ever remember loving sports movies. though not particularly inspiring, it is a great little movie with a comedic edge... and luckily time has been good to it. It's still relevant and still made me chuckle.

Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen review

Cute movie in the same vein as "Mean Girls." It has that same sense of humour and quirkiness about it, but doesn't have the same spunk as "Mean Girls." It was really a sort of fairy tale plot, but it's fun to watch Lohan overact.

Jackass Number Two review

Posted : 6 months, 1 week ago on 2 April 2008 06:33 (A review of Jackass Number Two)

There are very few films out there that are actually incredibly physically painful to watch! ... This is obviously one of them. Tough to watch a lot of the times and I'm not a fan of anything that involves fecal matter or vomit... but the actual pranks can be funny and Knoxville as the old man was actually funny to watch.
