(A review of Ballet Shoes)Entertaining and decent, but not at all memorable. All the little girls are rather spoiled and selfish so it's really hard to like any of them. And of course it ends on a rather clichéd everybody lives happily ever after. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
The Andromeda Strain review
Posted : 3 weeks, 4 days ago on 8 June 2008 04:16
(A review of The Andromeda Strain)What a hot, yet entertaining, mess. Truly right in line with most TV movies in the complete lack of common sense. There are far too many scenes where you'll find yourself going WTF?! (An army vehicle rolling over tire spikes but experiencing no damage; someone on the telephone with no mask, while five feet away are people in full biohazard suits; a car that breaks down and then works just find a few seconds later.) Ignoring all that, the movie's actually kind of entertaining. You find yourself interested in this crazy bug, and trying to guess its origins or how they're going to kill it. 1 comments, Reply to this entry
Princess review

(A review of Princess)How can you resist a fairytale story about princesses?! :) A very sweet movie, though it's really geared towards kids. It's enjoyable to watch, but often rather silly. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Kidnapped review

(A review of Kidnapped)The best part of this show was that it was a drama that wasn't overly dramatic. I loved that there was not of the popular sexual tension between lead characters, and people didn't have emotional outbursts that viewers felt were melodramatic or unjustified. I think there was a great on-screen chemistry with the whole cast and the action flowed so well. It's a shame that this never took off. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Grosse Pointe review

(A review of Grosse Pointe)Funny and quirky show that poked fun at the WB and its shows... which of course means that it was canceled on a cliffhanger. It's a shame that show teen comedies don't often hit as well as dramas, when they can often be just as intelligent. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Bang Bang You're Dead review

(A review of Bang Bang You're Dead)Powerful and heartbreaking. Ben Foster is phenomenal as the "troubled" teen. I can't imagine any teen or parent can find this movie easy to watch. It's tough to think that there's so much going on with kids these days that no one can know... but how you handle it all can separate you from the others. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
The Stand review
Posted : 3 months, 2 weeks ago on 20 March 2008 07:50
(A review of The Stand)One of the better Stephen King adaptations and it's really quite interesting. Unfortunately, it gets rather hokey with the special effects at the end... and it's far too Americanized for my tastes. There isn't a single mention of the rest of the world and how they are faring and it would seem to me that a big fight between good and evil would have to take place all over the world, not just on US soil. 2 comments, Reply to this entry
Knight Rider review

(A review of Knight Rider)This was just a whole lot of cheese... though the original TV series was, too. The acting was absolutely horrible, but there's no aruging that the car, Kitt, was really hot. On the negative I'd say this more of a two hour Ford Mustang commerical. But the fun of seeing a more modern version of the talking car might override that for some fans. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Whistler review
Posted : 5 months, 2 weeks ago on 15 January 2008 07:41
(A review of Whistler)I'm always surprised at which Canadian shows become really popular with tweens thanks to The-N... because Whistler doesn't seem to have any elements that would make me want to keep coming back to watch every week. I've found the stories to be developing far too slowly, while at the same time not giving enough credit to the characters, who are rather wooden and unlikeable. You're aware of who you should be rooting for, but can't quite find it in yourself to really relate to them or even care. The music can also be rather distracting: it's often too loud and used in scenes where a simple and subtle score would have been more effective. I try to support Canadian TV where possible and I'm a fan of Nicholas Lea, so it's with disappointment that I say I wouldn't recommend this show to people I know. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Life As We Know It review
Posted : 5 months, 4 weeks ago on 7 January 2008 11:54
(A review of Life As We Know It)A really sweet show with characters that are easy to relate to. The acting wasn't always on par with top quality shows, but as most of the actors were just beginning, it's one of those things you can get past quite quickly. Though I think there was much potential for this show and its interesting break in the fourth wall, the plots were far too cliché and had been done over in tons of other teen shows. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
